SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- Spartanburg County deputies say they arrested a man who called 911 and lied about killing someone.

Authorities say the emergency call Sunday sent several officers to a Cowpens address where a woman in the home told them she had no idea what was going on.

Deputies say the woman suggested her ex-husband may have made the call because she was harassing her over the phone. Investigators checked cell phone records and found the call came from a tower near a motel where 56-year-old Joseph Ledford was staying.

Ledford was charged with filing a false police report of a felony and unlawful use of 911. He remained at the jail Monday afternoon. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.
