COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A military veteran studying law at the University of South Carolina is looking for other veterans willing to help their fellow brothers and sisters in arms.

Second-year law student and former Army Ranger Phillips McWilliams is one of several vets pulling the group together.

The 29-year-old McWilliams served in Iraq and was in charge of a unit that searched for roadside bombs.

McWilliams says there is a great need for legal assistance for veterans, such as the homeless and those who must deal with the Veterans Administration.

The group is known as the "Service Members and Veterans in Law."

McWilliams says he's got about 100 members on his list already, and thinks there are many more in this military friendly state.
