COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A state Senate panel probing ways to increase the state's cyber security is scheduled to take testimony from the company South Carolina hired in the wake of the hacking of millions of taxpayers' personal data.

The committee holds its third meeting on Thursday. Senators expect to take testimony from the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs and the SC Bankers Association.

Also expected are comments from Experian, the company with whom South Carolina has signed a $12 million contract to provide credit monitoring.

The filings of 6.4 million residents and businesses were stolen when an international hacker accessed Department of Revenue servers earlier this year. On Wednesday, the Budget and Control Board approved a $20 million loan to pay for the state's response.
