LEXINGTON, SC (WACH) - The Lexington Police Department is stepping up enforcement in an effort to prevent collisions and save lives during the holiday season.

Police officials say from Nov. 26 through Nov. 30 the Traffic Division will be conducting increased speed traffic enforcement in the areas of Butler Street, Columbia Avenue, and West Main Street.

Officers will also be conducting increased DUI/Impaired Driving enforcement from Dec. 3 through Jan. 4 on all roads within the Town of Lexington. Traffic Safety Officers and Drug Recognition Experts will patrol during the primary hours of impaired driving.

Authorities say the enhanced enforcement is being conducted to help reduce collisions in Lexington.
