COLUMBIA (WACH) -- "Alive at 25" coalition benefit dinner held Thursday.

The South Carolina National Safety Council and the Lexington County Sheriff's Department put on the event in Columbia.

The mission of the organization is to keep car accidents among young people to a minimum.

"It's everybody working as a collective group of making a difference to save lives and hope for family members that have experienced tragedies throughout the year," said Brooke Russell of the South Carolina National Safety Council.

Car crashes are the leading cause of death for teens in the United States.

About 450 people attended the event, which is the group's biggest fundraiser of the year.

WACH Fox is a proud sponsor of "Alive at 25."
