COLUMBIA (WACH) - Police say a child has been hit by a vehicle in Columbia near W.A. Perry Middle School.

Jennifer Timmons with the Columbia Police Department says a child was struck at Two Notch Road and Germany Street Tuesday afternoon and transported to a local hospital.

Officials with Richland One school district say the child was a boy in the sixth grade.

Joshua Brown, a first-grade student at Watkins-Nance Elementary School, was struck and killed by a pickup truck only a few blocks away from that intersection on Barhamville Road three weeks ago.

Watkins-Nance Elementary and W.A. Perry Middle are located on Barhamville Road near Two Notch Road in Columbia

WACH Fox has a crew at the scene and will have updates as they become available.
