WINNSBORO, S.C. (WACH / AP) -- Fairfield County deputies are looking for a Winnsboro police officer they say shot and wounded his estranged wife.
Deputies say the shooting happened around 10 p.m. Sunday in Winnsboro.
According to authorities, Winnsboro Department of Public Safety Officer Michael Bernard Roseboro, 43, was last seen leaving the scene of the shooting on 8th Street in Winnsboro.
Deputies found the Winnsboro DPS white Ford Crown Victoria that Roseboro was driving off of Highway 21, but Roseboro has not been located.
Chief Deputy Keith Lewis says the officer shot his wife from his vehicle as she stood on the sidewalk. Lewis says the couple's children saw the shooting and are being cared for by relatives.
Officials say Roseboro was in uniform and believe he used his DPS issued .40 caliber pistol in the shooting.
Lewis says the woman is in stable condition.
Roseboro worked for the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office from 2001 until 2010.
The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating.
SLED officials say Roseboro is wanted for attempted murder and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. He should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached by the public.
