COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Clemson University wants to ban use of any tobacco products on campus in two years.

The school is setting up a task force of administrators, professors and students to write a policy and make plans it put it in place in 2014.

Clemson would not be the first South Carolina school to put in a complete tobacco ban, but it would be the largest.

The school has plenty of ties to tobacco, whether it is a $380,000 grant received in 2010 from Philip Morris International or national championship winning football coach Danny Ford chewing tobacco as he prowled the sidelines in the 1980s.

The executive director of student health services says he expects opposition to the ban at first with people later understanding how it will improve health.
