PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten (AP) -- Officials in St. Maarten say a suspect has confessed to a role in the slaying of a South Carolina couple in the Dutch Caribbean country.

Public Prosecutor Hans Mos says the 28-year-old suspect admitted "involvement" in the killing of Michael and Thelma King. Mos didn't provide any details of the alleged confession in a statement Wednesday. Solicitor General Taco Stein said authorities are still investigating and are interrogating a second suspect.

The husband and wife were found Sept. 21 stabbed to death in their vacation home in St. Maarten, an island east of Puerto Rico. A Jamaican security guard on the island was arrested two days later. The lawyer for the suspect identified as Meyshane Johnson has said he denied any involvement. Johnson has not yet been charged.
