3 ex-SRS workers convicted in federal funds case

AIKEN, S.C. (AP) -- Three former employees at the Savannah River Site have been found guilty of submitting fraudulent expenses to the U.S. Department of Energy.

The Aiken Standard reports that Jeffrey Richardson of Graniteville pleaded guilty Thursday to fraudulently obtaining funds through an Energy Department per diem program.

Two other men were charged with submitting approximately $54,800 in fraudulent expenses to the Energy Department. George Alan Dick of Loveland, Ohio, pleaded guilty to conspiracy in August. Gary Don Erwin of Clifton, Texas, was found guilty by a jury.

All three men will be sentenced later.
