FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) -- The commanding general at the Army's largest training installation is inviting members of the public to visit South Carolina's Fort Jackson and see how soldiers are trained.

Brig. Gen. Bryan Roberts is hosting the tour on Thursday, Oct. 11. Installation officials are taking reservations for the six-hour tour, which begins at 7:45 a.m.

Citizens will be able to see how soldiers train in the field, and then attend a graduation celebration for soldiers completing basic combat training. Visitors may an M-16A2 rifle in a simulator, eat in an Army dining hall and query Army officials about the nation's largest military service branch.
