COLUMBIA (WACH)—There is good news at pumps. As little as it might be, the price of a gallon of gas in the Midlands is down just over 1 cent to an average of $3.57 a gallon.
Conversely, the national average has risen over a penny to $3.81 a gallon, according to ColumbiaGasPrices.com.
The current price in the midlands is nearly 18 cents more a gallon than this time last year.
"Even with Isaac long gone, the oil industry is still bringing capacity back online- at refineries and oil rigs, which is keeping pressure on prices," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. "Supply remains tight across the country as we slowly approach the transition to winter-spec gasoline, but I continue to be firm in believing that the national average will start to decline towards the end of September, as is typically the case," DeHaan said.
