COLUMBIA (WACH) - Four suspects have been arrested in connection with a late August murder.

The Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott states the investigation continues into a murder that occurred early Saturday morning August 25, 2012 at the El Toro Bar and Grill (806 St. Andrews Road) that took the life of a 42 year old  Jimmy Moti.

Sheriff Leon Lott said investigators continue to comb through leads and forensic evidence and search the community for the four suspects who shot and killed the victim. The Sheriff added that investigators are releasing video surveillance footage from the cameras of the neighboring convenience store; which captured the suspects assaulting the victim, while the victim defends himself by pepper spraying two of the four suspects. Lott adds that the suspects then fired multiple shots at the victim and fled the scene. Lott said the victim later died at the hospital after being shot in the upper body.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said Gerald Haltiwanger, 22, was arrested for Murder. Deputies also detained Tyrobia Green, 23, for accessory after the fact of murder, Terrell Vaughn, 27, for accessory after the fact of murder, and Jonathan Sterling, 21, for accessory after the fact of murder.

Lott said the Richland County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Task Force and Investigators arrested Haltiwanger on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 1810 Allen Benedict Court just after 5:00 PM.  Investigators contacted Green, Vaughn, and Sterling who all turned themselves into the Richland County Sheriff’s Department Headquarters on Thursday, August 30, at 5:30 p.m.  Investigators received information on the whereabouts of Haltiwanger, Green, Vaughn, and Sterling from acquaintances. 

Lott said at just before midnight Saturday, August 25 at the El Toro Bar and Grill on St. Andrews Road. Haltiwanger, Green, Vaughn, and Sterling assaulted Jimmy Moti, 42, who worked as a security officer at at the El Toro Bar and Grill on St. Andrews Road. Sheriff Lott adds that the suspects fired multiple shots at Moti and fled.  The Sheriff's Deparment said Moti later died at the hospital from his wounds.

All four suspects were sent to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
