UPDATE: The City of Columbia lifted this advisory on Wednesday, Aug. 29. Residents in this area no longer need to boil water for consumption.
COLUMBIA (WACH) – The City of Columbia has issued a boil water advisory for the Flora Springs Subdivision, advising customers to “vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking.” Also, any ice made from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.
The city also advises that residents in near the area who experience a loss of water and/or water pressure to also boil water prior to drinking.
The advisory is due to a six inch water man break in the area of the Flora Spring Subdivision that would result in the bacterial contamination of the water.
