COLUMBIA (WACH) - The Columbia Blowfish will have the option to play in Capital City Stadium for another season.

The contract for the purchase of the stadium was released Thursday and states that the City of Columbia has the right to lease the stadium for the 2013 baseball season as long as the lease expires on or before Sept. 1, 2013.

The city sold Capital City Stadium to Walmart developer Bright-Meyers for $1 million.

Flooding has been a primary concern throughout the talks of the sale and development of the property.

Under the contract, the city will use $500,000 of the proceeds from the sale of the stadium to make improvements to the Rocky Branch Creek area.

The Rocky Branch Watershed Alliance was formed shortly after news of the possible development reached the public. The group is made up of environmental advocates, concerned businessowners, USC representatives, along with city and county engineers looking to ensure the long- term health of the watershed and region years down the road, with or without a project at the Capital City Stadium property.
