Sumter, SC (WACH)-An overnight shooting resulted in the death of a man.

The Sumter Police Department responded to a shooting around 1 a.m. at the 600 bock of Omarest Drive. Officers arrived to find Jerry Ratchford lying in the yard of the residence. Authorities say he had gunshot wounds to his abdomen.

Ratchford was taken to Tuomey Regional Medical Center, then to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital where he died.
