WEST COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) -- Teens who are interested in a career in law enforcement are getting a chance this week to see what it's like to be on the job.
Nine mock drill scenerios have been arranged for the week and teens between the ages of 14 and 20 are competing with one another see how they can handle the pressure.
The competition is through the South Carolina Law Enforcement explorers and Lexington County Sheriff's Department has organized these drills.
Wednesday 18 year old Emily Rochester, and 17 year old Forrest Wagler walked into a realistic mock criminal domestic violence situation.
"I was nervous coming up to the door when they were yelling and screaming, but then we got everything settled down," said Wagler.
The three people acting out the domestic violence mock drill are members of the Lexington County Sheriff's Department, and are part of unit that handles domestic violence cases.
"We just wanted to take part in what we see and hear everyday," said Detective Kathy Etheredge, who participated in the drill.
The law enforcement explorers will gather for an awards ceremony Saturday, to find out who performed the best during the week.
