JENKINSVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Regulators have chosen two new resident inspectors at a South Carolina nuclear plant where two new reactors will soon be constructed.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission said Monday it had chosen Patrick Donnelly and Mike Magee to serve as inspectors at the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station in Fairfield County.

The NRC says Donnelly has been a project manager for the Westinghouse AP1000 nuclear reactor design certification. Magee has worked as an inspector for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Earlier this year, the NRC approved licenses for two new reactors at the Jenkinsville plant. The $10 billion reactors will be operated by South Carolina Electric & Gas and the state-owned utility Santee Cooper.

The first reactor is to start generating power in 2017, with the second one online in 2018.
