MONKS CORNER, S.C. (AP) -- Students from the University of South Carolina are bringing the school mascot Cocky and dozens of books when they visit two county libraries.

The program known as Cocky's Reading Express is stopping by Wednesday morning at the Berkeley County Library in Moncks Corner and in the afternoon at the Georgetown County Library in Georgetown.

A spokeswoman for the program, Christine Rienecker, says volunteers expect about 80 to 100 children at each stop. Both events are open to the community.

Since the reading program was launched in 2005, more than 45,000 books have been given to children throughout the state during visits to schools and libraries.
