COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson has claimed his party's nomination for the 2nd Congressional District in the South Carolina Midlands.

Wilson was getting 80 percent of the vote in Tuesday's primary over Phil Black of Lexington County.

Wilson also defeated Black in the previous two GOP primaries in the district.

Wilson is seeking a seventh term in Washington. He has no Democratic opponent in November.

Black had promised that if he was elected he would serve only one term and accept only $38,000 in salary, compared with the $174,000 a year House members make.
