COLUMBIA (WACH) - The spotlight is shining on one Columbia man who thinks he can dance, and the world is watching.

Joshua Alexander made it through the final round of auditions before the callback round on So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD), a popular Fox reality show that is in its ninth season.

Wednesday night, Alexander danced to Alicia Keys "If I Ain't Got You" and was instantly presented with a ticket to the next round from all three judges.

"You are special. When you dance it is like you are testifying. No really. You rise me up," said choreographer and SYTYCD guest judge, Debbie Allen.

Alexander has been involved in the Columbia dance community for several years. He now serves as an assistant to Dale Lam with the Columbia City Jazz Dance School and Company, according to The State newspaper.

Seventy-Five people from the company gathered at Wild Wing in the Vista Wednesday night to support Alexander.

Their cheers filled the restaurant each time Alexander appeared on the screen.

"We are very excited about it," said Wild Wing manager Sharyn Hooks. "It's one of our own."

Alexander will take his talent to Las Vegas for the callback round, which will air Wednesday, June 20 at 8 p.m. on WACH Fox.
