MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) -- Firefighters plan to stay on the scene of a wildfire in Horry County that's caused the evacuation of about 50 homes.
Authorities say the fire had burned more than 50 acres in the Carolina Forest area as of Saturday evening.
Horry County spokeswoman Lisa Bourcier says authorities don't expect to evacuate more homes. She says changing winds are making it more difficult to bring the blaze under control.
Forestry officials were first dispatched at 2:30 p.m. when a planned burn got out of control. Scott Hawkins of the S.C. Forestry Commission says the fire had slowed considerably just a few hours later.
He estimates the fire was about 60 percent to 70 percent contained Saturday evening.
