COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Arrests have been made in the pit bull theft investigation.

According to a spokesperson with the Columbia Police Department, a 17-year-old has been charged in the case and a juvenile has charges pending against him.

Police are currently looking for another juvenile and a 25-year-old in connection with the case.

The arrestts come after a third incident of someone stealing pit bulls from the City of Columbia Animal Shelter that occured around 9 p.m. last Saturday.

In that case, authorities say the suspect stole five pit bulls from their cages.

This is the third dog theft from the shelter in three weeks.

Authorities say in all, there have been 16 pit bulls stolen, including a pregnant one.

According to the animal shelter, one dog was recovered Friday by a good samaritan and is reportedly in good condition.

Chief Scott encourages anyone with information on these thefts to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Tipsters could earn a cash reward up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
