COLUMBIA (WACH) - Columbia police are investigating a shooting that took place Friday morning at an apartment complex in Columbia.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said Warren Nelson, 46,  of Columbia died as a result of the shooting.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired at the Gable Oaks apartment complex on Colleton street around 7 a.m. Friday.

The investigation is ongoing.
