NEWBERRY, S.C. (WACH/AP) -- The National Weather Service has updated the tornado warning for South Carolina. The watch has been reduced to just four counties: Aiken, Bamberg, Barnwell and Orangeburg.

Earlier, the National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for 14 counties as voters across South Carolina cast their ballots in the Republican presidential primary.

The current watch extends past the end of voting Saturday in the GOP presidential nomination contest. The polls close at 7 p.m. The watch lasts until 8 p.m.

The designation means conditions are favorable for a tornado. But the SkyWACH Weather team and weather service meteorologists say no tornado had been sighted as of Saturday afternoon. The storm has a history of dangerous winds, heavy rain, downed trees and golfball sized hail. Indications of rotation have prompted tornado warnings in central Georgia.
