COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) -- Tis the season to give, and that's exactly what Harvest Hope is doing with help from people around the Midlands.

During these tough economic times, more and more people are finding themselves in a position where they need help.

Harvest Hope volunteer Judy Ison says, "So many times Ive heard people say, "I've given to Harvest Hope for so many years, I never expected to be on this side of the desk meaning on the receiving end. Its a unique situation for that individual, but across the boards I'm afraid its not very unique."

As Ison points out people in need of a little help is not that unique nowadays with current economic times, and Harvest Hope has definetly noticed.

Skot Garrick from Harvest Hope says,"Well we're seeing a 25% increase in need from this year over last year."

They are hoping to match the increase with just as many donations, if not more.

The largest food bank in the Midlands has been preparing for the largest food drive of the year, Share your Holiday.

They will have refrigerated trucks at each location, which means they are accepting all types of food donations

If you're interested in Sharing your Holiday, drop off donation sites will be open November 30 at First Baptist Church in downtown Columbia and Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union in Lexington.

If you can't make it out to one of the drop-off sites, you can make a $5 donation by texting "HHFB" to "52000".
