CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Officials say erosion damage caused by Hurricane Irene was confined to the middle of the coast between Pawleys Island and Folly Beach.

The state Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management surveyed the state's beaches on Monday. Agency spokesman Dan Burger says beaches in the Myrtle Beach area did well in the storm.

But there was erosion on Pawleys Island, the Isle of Palms, Sullivans island and Folly Beach.

On Sullivans Island, beach walkovers were damaged and during the storm, water washed against several houses. There was erosion at Folly Beach that closed the county park and high water eroded sand at several houses.

Burger said that were no reports of problems on the state's south coast.
