COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Columbia Police arrested a 44 year-old man they say was selling heroin out of a room at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital.

Troy Allen Baxter is charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin.

According to officers hospital staff saw suspicious activity in Baxter's room and called police. Hospital security told police they saw Baxter throw a pill bottle into the trash.

Officers say when they took the bottle out, they found it had 21 "bindles" of foil containing what a test determined was heroin.

Narcotics officers say the heroin had a street value of about $420.
