Tropical Storm Cindy, 2011's third tropical system, formed in the central Atlantic Ocean Wednesday afternoon.
The good news for the United States is that Cindy poses no threat to the east coast. Cindy is expected to continue a northeastward track and eventually weaken into a tropical depression.
Cindy will remain a Tropical Storm through Friday before forecasts weaken it to a Tropical Depression by Saturday. Current winds speeds are at 40 mph while Cindy pushes northeast at 24 mph.
Cindy follows closely on the heels of Tropical Storm Bret, which is forecast to weaken over the next 24 hours.
Given that this is the second system to form within a week's time, emergency management officials remind residents that they should review their hurricane plans. Hurricane season will not peak until September which means there is still a long way to go before it's over.
The next three storm names will be Don, Emily and Franklin.
