Sotomayor set to speak at USC graduation

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor is set to speak to USC's graduating class this semester.

Sotomayor will be a part of the Friday afternoon commencement ceremony. 

President Harris Pastides told the Daily Gamecock she will receive an honorary law degree from the school.

Pastides also says the Sotamayor will not be paid for her appearance.

Surgeon General Regina M. Benjamin, U.S. Ambassador to China and former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman Jr., U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, business leader M. Edward Sellers and Mark Smith, a USC professor of history are also speakers at USC's commencements.

The commencement takes place over several ceremonies during the weekend of May 6.
