LEXINGTON COUNTY (WACH) -- A West Columbia chiropractor is out on bond after Lexington County Sheriff James Metts says two female patients accused him of inappropriately touching their private parts during treatment in his office.

Ronald Jeffery Shows, 51, was arrested Tuesday afternoon and faces two charges of second-degree assault and battery. He could face up to three years in prison and a $2,500 fine if convicted, said Metts.

According to Metts, the two women, who were ages 23 and 35, went to the chiropractor’s office at 2243-C Leaphart Road near West Columbia in order to seek therapeutic treatment. The 23-year-old woman told detectives that Shows directed her to remove all of her clothing, except her underwear, and put on a hospital gown. The woman told detectives on March 2 that Shows then touched her private parts inappropriately. The other accuser reported similar accusations to deputies last week.

Metts is encouraging anyone else with information about additional incidents in which Shows may have interacted inappropriately with patients to contact CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Citizens also can provide information anonymously by accessing the Crime Tip link on the Sheriff’s Department web site (www.lexingtonsheriff.com).
