Huckabee makes stop in Midlands to promote book

RICHLAND COUNTY (WACH) -- Former Arkansas governor and FOX News host Mike Huckabee made a stop in the Midlands Monday.

Huckabee, a presumed presidential hopeful visited the Books-A-Million in the Village at Sandhill to sign his new book "A Simple Government."

Fans waited in line to meet the 2012 presidential forerunner and host of "Huckabee."

Huckabee pulled in over 21 percent of those polled in the latest Winthrop University Poll.  Former Speaker Newt Gingrich came in a distant second with almost 13 percent and Tea Party favorite and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin picked up just shy of nine percent.

When asked if he will consider a run for president in 2012, Huckabee said he still isn't sure, but plans to make a decision by this summer.

Former South Carolina Governor David Beasley and his wife, Mary Wood Beasley, chatted with Huckabee while he signed books in Florence.
