COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Gov. Nikki Haley and Sen. Lindsey Graham spoke out against the Federal Health Care Law Monday morning at the State House.

Haley told President Obama last year that South Carolina can't afford the health care and she wants to find a way for the state to opt out.

Monday, Sen. Graham introduced the State Health Care Choice Act allowing states to decide what they want in terms of health care.

Under this proposed legislation, states could choose to opt out of individual, employer, Medicaid and benefit mandates.

"We will be voting on repealing this bill.  We will vote to not fund this bill.  We will vote to opt out of this bill," Graham exclaimed.  "We will keep voting until the people of South Carolina can have a say about their health care."

"As we go and look for other ways to opt out, this is a sure fire way of opting out in a way that we want to and not the way the President wants us to," Haley added at Monday's press conference.

Critics were also on hand at the State House to voice their concerns.  Some say there are important issues in the Affordable Care Act that should not get lost in the politics.

"Senator Graham says we're going to repeal this and then we will provide the health care you need at the price you can afford," says John Ruoff.  "We do need to drive some costs out of the system, but are we going to drive $10.9 billion out of the system?  I think not."

Supporters add that costs will rise, but the state will get more federal matching dollars for what it spends on Medicaid.
