COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The potential still exists for snow to invade portions of the Midlands Saturday evening into Sunday afternoon.
The latest model runs have trended lower with snowfall potential for the Midlands. The best potential for snowfall and accumulation will be north of I-20 and east of I-95. Newberry, Kershaw, Fairfield, Lee, Richland, Sumter and Lexington counties may see between a trace to 2 inches. Snowfall would tend to accumulate on grassy and metal surfaces rather than roadways.
Major accumulation don't seem likely, but some localized accumulation could exceed 2 inches. However minor travel delays in localized areas like bridges, overpasses and secondary raods are possible. Power outtages are not expected to be a problem with this system. Slush may pile up on some isolated roadways. The greatest snowfall potential will be closer to the Charlotte area.
