COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Bottoms up! The World Beer Festival is coming back to the Capital City.
Mayor Steve Benjamin announced his support for the festival Tuesday.
The mission of the event is to educate the public in beer appreciation and beer quality.
The annual event brings in an estimated $1.5 million to the local economy and organizers say this year will feature a few new activities.
"What we are trying to do with the festival is now just to give people a good time, but believe me they have a good time, but it's also to expose them to different ways that they can enjoy beer," says Bill Steigerwald of the World Beer Festival.
The festival will be held Saturday January 22 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. Tickets are on sale now.
