COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Gov.-elect Nikki Haley's transition team members are signing an ethics and conduct pledge that bars them from running a Cabinet agency or talking to outsiders on Haley's behalf without permission.

Haley's transition team released the pledge Thursday that covers all seven staff members. Spokesman Rob Godfrey said it also covers volunteers putting together Haley's administration before the January inauguration.

The 11-point pledge reminds transition workers that documents and records they keep can become public and they must follow existing ethics laws.

Transition members agree they won't use information gained through their work for unauthorized purposes and that they're not permitted to talk about the transition without written authority.
