Columbia, Greenville, Spartanburg seek Miss SC

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Columbia, Greenville and Spartanburg are in the running to host the 2011 Miss South Carolina Pageant.

The State newspaper reported Thursday that Columbia is offering the newly renovated Township Auditorium and Greenville has submitted a bid to hold the pageant at the Peace Center.

The pageant has been held at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium for years. It previously had been held in the old Greenville Memorial Auditorium.

A decision is expected soon. Miss America officials plan to visit the state next month.
