ANDREWS (WPDE) -- A spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration, Lynn Lunsford, says the pilot involved in the plane crash near the Andrews airport died in the crash.
Lunsford says, right now, they cannot confirm what the pilot was doing, if he was trying to take off or land.
Georgetown County Sheriff''s Office spokesman Neil Johnson says the small plane crashed about 100 yards off the runway at the Andrews Airport.
The wreckage is located in a heavily wooded area. The pilot was the only person on board the aircraft.
The plane is a single engine, 1946 Stinson. It's registered to Richard Gross of McClellanville, SC.
