CAYCE (WACH) -- As the summer heat continues, energy bills can take a toll on your budget.

According to SCE&G, heating and cooling accounts for 45 to 50 percent of a consumer's annual energy bill.  That's why the utility company is reminding customers about some of the programs they offer to help reduce your overall energy use.

A home energy audit could help find ways to become more efficient and an in-home energy consultation may be the next step to being proactive when it comes to managing consumption.

SCE&G officials say they offer a variety of tools and tips on their website to help you stay cool and save money through the summer months.

Special assistance programs are also available for those who need additional help.
