(AP) -- COLUMBIA -- South Carolina's Democratic U.S. Senate candidate, Alvin Greene, is getting ready for his first campaign rally.

Greene is scheduled to speak Sunday 4 p.m. at the monthly meeting of the local NAACP branch in his hometown of Manning.

Greene has said he campaigned in the weeks leading up to his shocking June 8 primary win, when the unemployed Army veteran beat a longtime politician with the full backing of the Democratic party.

But he hasn't said where he campaigned, and no one outside of his barber shop can recall Greene trying to woo voters.

Interest in Greene's appearance has grown so much that the NAACP has moved the rally from a church to the local junior high gymnasium.
