GREENVILLE (FOX Carolina) -- Hundreds of people lined up outside the state employment office in Greenville on Wednesday, trying to grab one of the new jobs at the BMW plant.

Last Thursday, the car maker said it would hire 500 workers at its Upstate plant, which is part of the company's $750 million plant expansion.

BMW said that the new contingency associates will also prepare the Spartanburg plant to meet the growing demand for other models being made for worldwide markets.

"We are pleased to report that the BMW X5 and X6 vehicles produced in our Spartanburg plant are selling very well around the world," said BMW Manufacturing Company President Josef Kerscher.

The new employees will be eligible for health, dental, 401(k) and vacation benefits.

BMW said that its contracted staffing partner, MAU, will be responsible for hiring the new employees.

If you're interested in applying, there will be another job fair on July 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Spartanburg Community College Tyger River Campus. For more information on the jobs, click here.
