COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Championship fever took to Columbia's Main Street on Friday during USC’s victory parade.

“This is unbelievable,” said Chuck Fobare.

Fobare said he’s been a Gamecock Fan for more than 16-years and thought this day would never come.

And he wasn’t alone - Columbia officials said more than 40,000 people lined city sidewalks to watch the NCAA National Championship Baseball Team on floats.

“It’s an amazing thing going on here today,” said Michal D’Andrea.

D’Andrea said he’s also been a fan for a long time and wanted to come out to the parade for what he called a once in a life time experience.

Fans cheered when they saw their favorite players and roared when the Grand Marshal, USC Head Coach Ray Tanner rode by.

The parade left some fans hoping that the National Championship could be the beginning of a dynasty or an end to a life-long jinx.

“We can say that the chicken curse is officially dead,” said Laraine Cooper, also a Gamecock Fan.

And in true Gamecock spirit, all fans said they can't wait to do it again next year.
