OMAHA, NEB (WACH) -- South Carolina has won its first ever national championship in baseball.

The Gamecocks defeated the UCLA Bruins 2-1 in 11 innings on Tuesday night, winning the College World Series championship in two straight games.

Jackie Bradley Jr. was named the CWS Most Outstanding Player.

USC trailed 1-0 entering the bottom of the 8th inning, but tied the game on a UCLA error.

In the 11th inning, Scott Wingo led off with a walk and went to second on a passed ball.  After a sacrifice bunt, Whit Merrifield drilled an RBI single into right field to set off the celebration.

After losing its first game in Omaha, the Gamecocks won six straight games to win its second official NCAA national championship (joining the title won by the women's track and field team).
