COLUMBIA -- After five days of donations, the Columbia Fire Department won the inaugural Boots and Badges Blood Drive.

The firefighters, also known as the Boots, extinguished the police, or the Badges, with 188 blood donations.

Police weren't that far behind.  They finished with 104.

Regardless of the competition, the ultimate winners are the people in need of blood.
