HILTON HEAD (AP) -- Tourism seems to be recovering on South Carolina's south coast.
The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports tourism researchers gave the good news to the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday.
University of South Carolina researcher Simon Hudson says tourists are coming back. But he says the industry must meet visitor's demands for educational experiences, convenience and good service.
Ralf Garrison of the Advisory Group of Denver says consumer confidence is returning but is still below what it was before the recession.
Garrison says demand for accommodations is rising, but not enough to allow for an increase in rental rates.
