COLUMBIA --

Dozens of local charities are receiving thousands of dollars in contributions.

Twenty-four organizations were awarded $50,000 for their service during the St. Pat's festivities in Five Points.

Officials say donating part of their revenue is a way to show it's appreciation to all the dedicated volunteers.

"They make it.  The festival depends on volunteers.  My personal involvement is I coordinate the parade," explains voluneer Silvia Butler.  "And there's no way one person can do that, so I have lots and lots of help."

Due to the success of St. Pats in Five Points, nearly $2 million has been given back to charities over the past 28 years.
