COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Several of South Carolina's leading women and former governor's wives and are hosting a lunch to honor South Carolina's Medal of Honor recipients.

The event Wednesday in Columbia is being held to bring attention to the Medal of Honor Society's 2010 convention this fall in Charleston.

It honors three of the state's five living recipients, including Army Col. Charles Murray, retired Navy Seal Lt. Michael Thornton and retired Army Master Sgt. John Baker.

Sponsors say Chief Justice Jean Toal, Columbia City councilwoman Belinda Gergl, and former Democratic congresswoman Elizabeth Johnston Patterson are attending. Also attending are the wives of several former governors, including Lois West, Mary Wood Beasley and Iris Campbell.
