BISHOPVILLE -- A Mayesville woman says her elderly grandmother was deceived when she got a stove that was delivered in anything but tip top shape.  But the owner of the store where she bought the appliance says the 93-year-old woman knew exactly what she was getting.

"At first I felt angry and hurt," said Sabrina Plowden-Greene.

To understand Sabrina Plowden-Greene's emotional roller-coaster, you have to understand who she's fighting for.

"It was very disheartening for me to know that my grandmother in her state, economic and health wise; that someone would try to take advantage of a 93-year-old woman."

Plowden-Greene has power of attorney over her grandmother Rachel Wilson's affairs.  Plowden-Greene says Wilson has the early stages of dementia.  She was surprised when she found out her grandmother bought a stove.  But what shocked the Mayesville woman more, was the condition the used appliance was in.

"I'm talking the burners are burnt out, the oven is grease-filled and black; and if she turned it on it would probably set her house on fire," said Plowden-Greene.

"Normally we replace the stove pans on a stove, it's about a $5 purchase," said the store's owner Fritz Smith.  "And in the rush of that day they did not get replaced."

Smith says Wilson knew what she was getting, but agrees the condition of the stove was not up to par.

To help resolve the issue, Plowden-Greene says she called the store and Smith hung up on her.  The owner offers this explanation:

"I said 'Ma'am if you can not calm down I'm gonna hang up,'" said Smith.  "And I hung up. But she called back like 'Don't ever hang up on me.'"

After several more calls WACH Fox News went to the store with Plowden-Green to get some answers.  She left with results.

Work crews removed her grandmother's stove, and according to Smith refunded her account.  As for Plowden-Greene, she says she'll continue being a voice for her grandmother.

"I do feel like I'm carrying the community a little on my back, and on my shoulders," said Plowden-Greene.  "But they're broad shoulders. Thank Goodness."
