LEXINGTON COUNTY -- Authorities in Lexington County are asking for help identifying a woman they say broke into a car and is now forging stolen checks across the county.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said Tuesday the woman stole a checkbook during a Lexington car break-in and has written at least six forged checks that she stole from the vehicle.
According to Metts, the woman has also used a stolen South Carolina driver’s license to identify herself when she uses the forged checks.
The woman has been seen accompanied by a white male with a black-and-gray beard. The woman and the man may be driving a light green or gray four-door sedan, Metts said.
Anyone with information about the woman is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
