(AP) -- FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) -- A federal appeals court has upheld the conviction of a South Carolina man in the shooting death of his sister-in-law.
The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Va., upheld the conviction of Darry Wayne Hanna of Johnsonville.
Former assistant Johnsonville city administrator Teresa Hanna was shot to death at her home in 2003.
Darry Hanna was convicted in 2007 of conspiracy, 19 counts of mail fraud and two counts of wire fraud. He was sentenced to nearly 37 years in prison.
Prosecutors say Darry Hanna conspired with his older brother, Davy Hanna, to kill Davy Hanna's wife. Prosecutors say the men tried to collect more than $270,000 from her life insurance.
Davy Hanna killed himself in 2006 while being held in the Florence County jail on the federal charges
